MTD's BACKING COULD UNEARTH NEXT WAYNE ROONEY

A Black Country precision engineering firm is hoping the next Wayne Rooney will come from the area, with the help of their sponsorship.

Tipton based Midland Tool and Design has paid for a brand new kit for Tipton Youth FC Under-11 Boyz, to cover the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.

The youngsters are managed by the firm's Stores Controller Shane Handley, and play in Walsall Youth League Division One. And it seems the new kit has brought the team some luck – they are closing in on the championship with only three games left to play.

Shane Handley said: "We have some talented players in the team and feel they could go on to bigger and better things.

"We often have scouts from Wolves and West Brom at our games and they've expressed an interest in taking a couple of our lads into their academies."

Midland Tool and Design is run by MD Darren Booton, a big fan of West Brom and football in general – he comes from a long line of West Brom supporters and is a Baggies season ticket holder.

He is now looking for other sports clubs to sponsor, as part of a drive to help local charities and good causes in 2012.

He said: "We were happy to help Tipton Youth FC, as we believe we should be encouraging more young people to get involved in sport."

Midland Tool and Design was established in 1969 and specialises in supplying precision components to a wide range of companies in aerospace, medical and automotive engineering.

They currently employ 35 people at their headquarters in Tipton, West Midlands.
